Cory Walken, Head Instructor

Sifu Cory Walken has trained in Wing Chun for over 20 years. He began training in Wing Chun in Seattle. After moving to Bellingham to attend Western Washington University, he started his training in Close Range Tactics™ (CRT™) under the instruction of Master David Neal Brown of Total Confidence Martial Arts. Master David is the most accomplished and accredited WingTsun™ teacher in the northwest and a direct student of Grandmaster Leung Ting the father of WingTsun™.

When Cory began training at TCMA he set a goal of earning his Black Belt/Technician. After many hard years of training, Cory completed his Martial Arts Instructor Certification Course in 2003, earned the title of 1st Technician (Black Belt) in 2006, and has since achieved the rank of 4th Level Technician (4th Degree Black Belt) from Master David.

Cory is committed to teaching his students the most practical system self defense. He has trained in various systems of martial arts to offer a comprehensive approach to self defense for his students. These systems include Wing Chun, Escrima, Muay Thai, ground fighting and anti-grappling techniques.

Cory has received instruction and trained with some of the most renowned teachers worldwide including Grandmaster Leung Ting, Grandmaster Rene Latosa, Sifu Carson Lau and Stephan Kesting. He believes it is critical that an instructor maintain the sharpness of their skills in order to evolve with the times and keep teaching the most practical self defense to their students.

David Neal Brown

Master David Neal Brown has over 30 years experience in Martial Arts and has been taught by Wing Tsun’s greatest teacher the internationally renown Great-Grandmaster, Dr. Leung Ting. Mr. Brown was one of the original pioneers of WingTsun in America and is the origin of all authentic WingTsun in Washington State. Today, Mr. Brown is recognized internationally as an authority on the art of WingTsun.

Mr. Brown has been instructing martial arts since 1986 and is currently a full time professional instructor. His lifetime quest to find the most practical forms of self defense has lead him across the US and Asia. This has allowed him to instruct martial arts on many levels including rape avoidance seminars, law enforcement and adrenal stress training. In addition to WingTsun, Mr. Brown has extensive experience in many other styles including Muay Thai kick boxing, ancient Thai martial arts and Pilipino martial arts.

In August 2007 Grandmaster Toddy awarded Mr. Brown the title of Master in Thai Martial Arts. Mr. Brown also received his judge's and referee's license in Bangkok from Grandmaster Woody at the Muay Thai Conservation Center of Thailand.

Mr. Brown has worked in experimential and special education for many years and has a thorough background in Neurolinguistic Programming. In 1998 Mr. Brown retired from education to pursue his lifelong dream of being a professional martial arts instructor. He has a B.A. in Asian Studies with an emphasis in Chinese history.

Mr. Brown has won numerous awards for his dynamic school management, his creative advancements in curriculum and his contribution to his community.

Charles Francis

Charles has been a student of CRT for the last 18 years, a journey that began in 2005 under the instruction of Master David Neal Brown of Total Confidence Martial Arts at the Bellevue, WA extension.

After the Bellevue school closed in 2008, Charles continued his training under Sifu Cory Walken, eventually earning his 1st technician (Black Belt) in 2010 and currently holds the rank of 2nd technician (2nd degree black belt.)

In addition to Wing Chun, Charles has also studied Muay Thai, Escrima, and is a SUF-CPT (Show Up Fitness - Certified Personal Trainer).
